Saying Good Bye to Jack Lalanne

The Fitness community and the entire world for that matter has lost one of it's true greats. Jack LaLanne "The Grand Father Of Fitness"

I can not express how great full I am to have had the opportunity to not only meet Jack LaLanne but to also share some laugh's.

If it weren't for Jack, fitness and health would not be what it is today. He was a true pioneer and decades before his time. His teachings and understanding for the mind, body and spirit continue to amaze me.

I cannot even begin to express my love, gratitude and adoration for this man.

Thank you Jack. You will be missed but never forgotten. I will do my best to pass along your teachings and your love for family, fitness and life.

With Love and Respect,
Bryan

PS Please keep Jack's best friend and sole mate Elaine in your thoughts and prayers.

An Apple a day keeps the Doctor Away!

I have heard that saying since I was a very young child. I knew apples were good for me but I really had no idea how good they were for me until now.

Apples are LOADED with Vitamin C which aid's the immune system and phenols, which have been shown to lower cholesterol.

They also reduce tooth decay by removing bacteria. It has also been suggested by Cornell University researchers that quercetin, which is found in apples protects brain cells against neuro-degenerative disorders like Alzheimer's Disease.

I personally love to eat apples pre workout for a nice energy kick as they are loaded with slow burning clean sugars that will fuel any workout.

So what are you waiting for!? Go Grab an Apple!

Joe Cannon MS, CSCS Personal Training Books... A++

If you are looking for a real deal no nonsense approach to Personal Training,Nutrition and Nutritional Supplements. I highly recommend you invest in a few of Joe Cannon's books that he offers on his personal website at a VERY reasonable price.

I personally own all 4 of his books and I use them daily to answer questions that pertain to Personal Training and Nutrition. Much of my fitness and nutrition knowledge comes directly from Joe's teachings as I earned my Personal Training Certification through him.

Joe offers so Much More than Personal Training. He is an Author, Lecturer, Nutritional Counselor and also one of my personal fitness mentors. Not to mention a total Health and Fitness Geek!

You can visit Joe Cannon's Personal web site here. Where you can read excerpts from his books, read Testimonials and purchase the books directly from Joe himself.

"Joe's supplement book is amazing! I like to keep it handy at all times for personal use and for use with my clients. The Supplement industry is so big these days that even people who work in the wellness industry such as myself can get lost! This is basically a road map that will help you decide on what supplements are best for you or your clients."

TRX Game Day Challenge!

I have been using the TRX system for the past 2 years now. This is one of my favorite workouts on the planet. There are literally thousands of workouts you can do with these bands and they always give me an AMAZING workout. Just thought I would share this "TRX Game Day Challenge" with you all. And yes now that summer is almost over I will have more time to work on my blog...I apologize for not posting as often as I used to but that will all be changing soon!

I am going to post a ton of information that pertains to Health and Nutrition as this is becoming more and more a part of my life both personally and professionally. My latest studies have been focused around the concept of preventing disease with whole foods or as some like to call it "Kitchen Chemotherapy."

For today we will focus on the physical aspect of over all health and fitness with The TRX system and sometime by the end of this week I will do a post on this new "whole foods" research.

If you want to have a body that no one else out there has you HAVE to do things that no one else is willing to do! Example Below...

Bryan Thomas Thoughts On Supplements...

This was a post I did on My Yahoo Health Group.

The question regarding Supplements came from one of the members.

"How do you tell what is good and what is crap?"

My Long but informative response:

I would say the best way is to stick to the basic supplements such as:

Fish Oil, Amino Acids, basic creatine, CLA, Whey and Casein Protein(Brands such as Optimum Nutrition or GNC)

And the BIG one is to try and stay away from any supplement that says... "proprietary blend"

This term is basically used to hide the fact the formula contains very little of the active ingredients listed on the bottle in an attempt to fool consumers.

These companies can have the smallest amount of that ingredient in the product but advertise and sell it as that product! Remember there is NO regulation!

Lets use Creatine for an example. The Label Will say something like:

"Propriety Blend" it will list a bunch of words and stuff that you cant even pronounce and then it will say "Creatine" but you have no idea how much creatine is in it! Um Scary!

Well for me personally I like to take about 5 Grams of creatine after a workout. (On Leg and Back day I take creatine before and after.)

So what I do is instead of buying a product such as "Super Pump" or "Cell Mass" im not trying to single anyone out there just the ones that pop into my head.(Good work marketing team!) I just buy the generic stuff.

Example: All That PUMP you up stuff can be bought at a fraction of the cost. Its Called L-Arginine and it works and I take it everyday.

To Sum this up as I need to get to the gym... DON'T LET the companies mix the stuff for you! Unless you want to spend a TON of extra cash because your favorite body builder or athlete is on the label quoted saying something ridiculous like....

"I take this super amazing product and in 2 weeks I look Like this!!!"

- #1 Lean Dude in the world (AKA Marketing Team of that particular product.)

NEWS Flash: He has most likely NEVER even tried the stuff and he is on another type supplement...And Barry Bonds,Mark McGuire and José Canseco are the poster children for it!

Now im not here to knock ALL of the supplement companies as there are many that want to provide their customers with a reliable product that will help them achieve their goals. All I am saying is DON'T Believe the hype and when it comes to supplements watch out for those two words "Proprietary Blend"

Ok well im off to the gym but before I go its time for some black coffee (my pump up drink!) and a little whey protein, L-Arginine, and Beta Alanine. I know exactly whats in it at a fraction at the cost.

A final thought... A "Supplement" is just that! It is to Supplement good training, Eating and Sleep. There is no magic pill out there as if there were I would be on it and I would tell of my followers about it.

The road to a healthy mind, body and soul is a long one. It takes years of hard work and practice. Trial and error. ups and downs. Progression and even some regression.

But in the end it is all worth it! This I can promise you!

Happy Supplementing!

Obi Obadike, Greg Plitt and Bryan Thomas at The Arnold Classic!

I know this post comes a little late so you will just have to keep the saying "Better Late then never"in mind as you read this.

This was my 3rd year attending the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio(Mar 6-9 2009) and I gotta say that each year this event leaves me blown away! Now as a 110% all natural Athlete/Fitness model I also have to say that I leave The Arnold with many questions that I want to ask the man/my idol Arnold Schwarzenegger himself.

I am not one to judge what other body builders or fitness models do to achieve their physique or look down on them because of it. well maybe just a little! But I do have a problem when impressionable kids are in the mix of things. I am not going to get too into how i feel on this post as in some ways I have to watch what I say as I don't want to offend anyone. ok scratch that I always speak my mind...

Basically to some things up and to be fair to everyone I am going to ask that we as a society place more emphasis on the Natural body builders, fitness models, and athletes. Not just for ourselves but for the younger generation. As this is tuning into a national epidemic!

I think magazines such as Muscle&Fitness need to use more guys who are that...Muscle&FITNESS! Fitness does not come in a bottle(or a needle) and it is not being the biggest leanest guy at the gym. It is a combination of proper training, cardio, weights, sleep and most importantly nutrition. If your mind is not as strong as your body then you are one weak person. I can guarantee that at the end of the day when "those guys" go home and look in the mirror they only see one thing..Muscles! They also see a person who has Cheated!

This is a subject matter that I could go on for days talking about and I would love to hear your thoughts as well so we can come up with a solution. maybe I will start a post on my free Yahoo Fitness Health group here.

But in the mean time I wanted to post a pic of myself with 2 of the industries top male fitness models Greg Plitt and Obi Obadike. These two guys are prime examples of what true Natural Health & Fitness looks like!

Cheers to a truly healthy mind, body and soul!

Bryan David Photography

I've recently got my hands on the latest Canon digital SLR the 50D which to me has been heaven sent!

Many people thought I would not be able to figure out how to shoot in various modes and control the cameras high powered lens. I was going to buy the less experienced Canon Rebel xsi but felt I would out grow the camera too fast.

So with my balls to the wall attitude I figured I would get the more professional camera(the 50D) and just do a ton of reading and better yet a ton of shooting!

I have had the camera two weeks and I gotta say that I am starting to form a slight addiction to photography as im sure many photographers do. ok I'll just admit it..its a full out addiction of mine!

hopefully this will lead to a blogging addiction as I get many complaints of how awful a blogger I am! :(

Here are a few samples of the objects, animals, and other random things I have shot thus far. Hope you enjoy!

National Underwear Day

Ok So I am a little late with this post but I thought better late then never!

National Underwear day hosted by Fresh Pair was a such a cool event. I had the opportunity to rub shoulders with actress and fashion maven Lydia Hurst, The Great Russell Simmons (who's book I am actually reading now, "Do You")and Tyson Beckford who greeted me with a nice "bro hug!" Real cool guy and so down to earth.

Myself along with a few of the other Diesel Brand underwear models on the red carpet with Lydia Hurst and Tyson.

Check out more shots from the event here at New York cool.com

I think my New Years resolution is going to be become a better blogger for 09!

The Thomas/Beckham Saga Continues!!!

The saga between David Beckham and Bryan Thomas has fans from around the world now questioning if David Beckham is really just another Bryan Thomas fan!?!?

More and more photos have been rolling in of L.A. Galaxy star David Beckham trying to duplicate Bryan Thomas poses.

When Thomas was asked what he thought of the whole situation he said...

"David is a extraordinary model and a great soccer player. I'm sure this is just some sort of mix up. He might have more tattoos, money, and BLING then I do but I think I have him beat in the muscle department."

Thomas later went on to say that Beckham Phoned him early last year and asked for advice on how to "fill out those undies?" for his upcoming Emporio Armani shoot. Thomas laughed and told Beckham "Look David ya either have it or ya don't, but if ya don't there's always photo shop buddy! The rest is history!

And may the best man win!
